The 2-0 AC/GC Chargers are hosting their cross county, conference and district rival tonight. The 1-1 Panorama Panthers will be coming to town for a big matchup, as the Chargers are receiving votes for a top ten spot in Class A.
AC/GC won a close game in their season opener, taking down the Ogden Bulldogs 20-19, and then faced off against the Earlham Cardinals last week, and won that game by double digits, with a final score of 28-14.
Panorama pulled off a stunning victory in their season opener, as they took down the West Central Valley Wildcats 28-17, a team they lost to last year 49-14. They then hosted the IKM-Manning Wolves, another Class A District 7 team, and dropped the game in a single point loss, with a final score of 27-26.
The leading passer for the Chargers is junior Jathan South, who has completed 1 of 3 passes for 33 yards, and picked up 88 rushing yards and 2 rushing touchdowns. Senior Anthony Solorzano leads in rushing yards, with 38 carries for 208 yards and 3 touchdowns. Leading in receiving yards is junior Payton Policky, with 1 reception for 33 yards, and senior Payton Jacobe leads the team defensively, recording 12.5 tackles, 6.5 of which were for a loss of yards, 2.5 sacks and 1 fumble recovery.
For the Panthers, senior Cayden VanMeer leads in the passing category, with 34 completions on 67 attempts for 419 yards and 2 passing touchdowns, along with 30 rushing yards and 1 touchdown on the ground. Fellow senior Ryan Cogil leads in rushing yards and defensively, with 39 carries for 198 yards and 3 touchdowns, 21.5 tackles, 2 of which were for a loss and 1 fumble recovery. Senior Klayton Bremer has been the primary target on passing attempts, with 14 receptions for 200 yards and 1 touchdown reception.
