The public is invited to a special event to mark the remembrance of an historic date in US history.

Everyone is encouraged to attend an event, “Remembering September 11, 2001 In Song and Verse” in Churdan on Sunday at 7pm at the Churdan Park. Paton-Churdan students will perform “God Bless America” followed by the Town and Country Band playing various patriotic music. Members of the community will also do readings in honor of the individuals that died in the 9/11 attacks.

Attendees are encouraged to bring their own lawn chairs or blankets and enjoy ice cream treats that are served by the Churdan Public Library. Free-will donations will be accepted and they will be serving starting at 6:30pm.

Churdan Library Director Shari Minnehan tells Raccoon Valley Radio they held a similar event two years ago on the 20th anniversary of 9/11 and are hoping to make this an annual tradition. She adds all donations to the library will be used for general library expenses.
