It’s Atlantic in Jefferson to face the Greene County Rams in non-district high school football tonight on KG98. Coverage begins at 6:30 p.m. with kickoff at 7 o’clock. Originally, a JV2 game was to be played first, but that has been cancelled, so it’s one varsity game at Linduska Field.

The Rams and Trojans are both 1-1 on the season and for Greene County, this is the final non-district game before Class 2A District eight action starts next Friday. Head coach Caden Duncan told Raccoon Valley Radio about the thought behind scheduling a trio of 3A non-district opponents in Carroll High, Perry, and Atlantic. “We wanted to build up the non-district schedule, so getting these three Class 3A programs on our schedule was intentional. We want to be challenged in our non-district games, so we can better prepare for the district schedule. We did this by design and we’re happy with playing those three. Atlantic will certainly present some challenges for us tonight.”

The Trojans opened the season with a 47-33 win over Clarke (Osceola), then lost to 4A highly ranked Glenwood, 47-6. The Rams started with a 20-0 road loss at Carroll before winning at home last Friday vs. Perry by a 55-14 final.
