Greene County played Heart of Iowa Activities Conference volleyball at home last night vs. Nevada and Paton-Churdan was in Dunlap vs. Boyer Valley in Rolling Valley Activities Conference play.

The Rams lost to the Cubs in three sets by scores of 13-25, 19-25, 16-25, to fall to 5-4 overall and 0-1 in conference matches. Coach Chris Heisterkamp’s team is now 15-12 in sets. The Cubs are 5-8 overall and 1-0 in the league. The majority of the losses for the Cubs are the Class 5A programs while Nevada is 4A and the Rams are 3A. The Rams were close with the Cubs early in all three sets, but in each case Nevada took over midway through the set. The Cubs committed 10 service errors to six for Greene County, but still completed the three set sweep. Kaylee Stalder had four kills to lead the team in that category with three kills from Emma Shipley and Payton Kokenge. Graci Cooklin led the Rams in digs with 12, followed by six digs for Stalder, five from Violet Reedy, and four for Emma Ewalt. Nevada had great size along the front line and was effective in both hitting and blocking. Coach Heisterkamp told Raccoon Valley Radio, “Some unforced errors got the best of us. We’ll have to reset and make some adjustments as needed to head into the tournament at Eldora on Saturday.” The Rams are among the eight teams in tomorrow’s South Hardin Tournament.

Paton-Churdan lost in three sets to Boyer Valley by scores of 7-25, 19-25, 9-25, and the Rockets are now 0-2 on the season and 0-1 in the conference. BV improved to 6-2, 1-0. Kaliyah Minnihan had two kills, Grace Cullum recorded four assists, and Mia Russell had an ace serve for the Rockets. Coach Makayla Spaar told Raccoon Valley Radio the girls had a great second set after a slow start in set one. “They found a groove and were playing together. We are going to focus on what they did in the second set tonight as we focus on a three game week next week.” The Rockets host Colo-Nesco on Monday, are on the road Tuesday vs. Exira/Elk Horn-Kimballton, and face Ar-W-Va )Westsode) in Churdan on Thursday.
