Greene County is now under a burn ban.
Greene County Sheriff Jack Williams tells Raccoon Valley Radio the county is under a burn ban due to the drought conditions and some of the fields of crops are turning over for an early harvest. Williams adds if anyone is found burning yard waste or other items during a burn ban can face a citation and a fine. The burn ban remains in place until further notice.
According to the latest US Drought Monitor, the western third of Greene County is under a moderate drought, while the rest of the county is abnormally dry. Raccoon Valley Radio will bring you more information as it becomes official.
