Aerial Shot of the Cars at the Charger Car Show
Last weekend was a busy one for the Adair – Casey / Guthrie Center FFA Chapter.
The Chapter hosted their first annual Charger Car Show and Pork BBQ Competition. Advisor Skie Shull says that for it being the first year, the turn out was really good, with five teams competing in the BBQ Competition, and 60 cars that showed up for the car show. She mentions that for the BBQ Competition, all five teams prepared pork loin, butt and ribs, and the optional side dish. Shull tells Raccoon Valley Radio what she thought was the best part of the events.
“I think my favorite thing from both of those events was just the overall experience for the FFA officers. They’ve worked really hard to prepare for this event, and they were really excited to get it off the ground. We even had some alumni come back that had graduated recently that wanted to help out with the day. And so just seeing it kind of all come together and those members just kind of grow and expand on their communication skill and everything throughout the day was really great.”
Shull explains that plans are already in the works to continue the events, with members talking about different things they’d like to try. She adds that there were awards for participants in the car show, by decade that the car was made, and some awards for the competing teams that showed off their BBQ skills. A list of the awards along with photos of the winners can be found in this story online.
