The Panorama School District is getting ready to participate in a fun and rewarding competition.

Student Council Advisor Kylee Boettcher says that the Student Council registered for the Healthiest State Annual Walk, and were able to be one of the first 64 schools to do so. She adds that these 64 schools get entered into the Mascot Challenge, and Student Council Vice President Thyme Boettcher tells Raccoon Valley Radio what schools do in the challenge.

“The goal is to obviously win the Mascot Challenge. But by winning the Mascot Challenge, we could be awarded $1,000 to start or fund a healthy incentive project.”

Kylee mentions that Panorama is the only school in the area that has been able to compete in the Mascot Challenge in the past.

“A lot of the schools around here. I mean, actually Ogden was the winner of the Mascot Challenge last year. You know, it’s fun just knowing that there are schools that are close to you and maybe even the students know students from there that are able to get some funds to help around the school and create some healthy initiatives for students.”

Voting is done each week on social media, as mascots go head to head, with the first round of voting to start on Monday for the Round of 32. The mascots with the most votes will move on to the next round, and face off against another mascot. The Panorama Panthers Facebook page will share a link once voting opens, and continue as long as they stay in the challenge.
