The Adair – Casey / Guthrie Center marching band has added a new competition to their schedule.
Band Director Kyra Babcock says that there are 28 members of the marching band this year, with a hefty amount of freshmen. She mentions that the marching band is composed of 3 color guard members, five members as part of the drumline, and the other 20 are wind players. Babcock tells Raccoon Valley Radio about the competitions they will participate in this year.
“So competitions are two parade marches. We’ve added the second one this year, it’s a new parade competition, and that takes place September 16th, it’s Creston. Creston Hot Air Balloon Days, I believe it’s called. And the second one is September 30th, this is Carol Band Days, and this is a parade competition we have been a part of for over 50 years.”
Babcock adds that the band will also perform at home football games, and that they like to play songs from movies, shows and video games, while their parade competition set is called “Spanish Parade” and is a high energy performance.
