The Adel-DeSoto-Minburn School District has a new administrator this year.
Liz Anderson is the new associate principal at both Adel and Meadow View Elementary Schools. Anderson is originally from Burlington, Iowa, and got her undergraduate degree in elementary education at the Iowa State University, and she completed her administration masters degree from the University of Iowa. Anderson has been a teacher for 13 years including teaching several different elementary grades at the ADM School District, and she also taught second grade in Frankfurt, Germany. She tells Raccoon Valley Radio that it was a goal to become an administrator.
“When switching in administration. I just see it as making a wider impact. So being able to impact a larger group of students. And also I really like that aspect of being an administrator, you still can be helping teach teachers.
Anderson says the challenge of helping manage two different elementary schools is bouncing back and forth. She explains that there is a positive because now she gets to follow students for a longer period of time.
“Is fun to be able to see some of those kids that I had either in first grade or maybe I had when I was on math interventions when they were in kindergarten and in first grade to now see them in second grade and third grade and fourth grade. I’m really excited to be able to watch kids for a longer amount of journey and kind of be a familiar face for them.”
Anderson says that she will split her days between each building to spend equal time with each elementary school.
