The West Central Valley Wildcats Volleyball team fell to the Van Meter Bulldogs 3-0 in their opening match of 2023 on Tuesday night. In the first set, the Wildcats were hanging around for a little bit before Van Meter ended up pulling away winning 25-13. Fast forward to the second set, and the Bulldogs used that momentum from the first set to dominate in the second set as they won it 25-6. Van Meter would end up sealing the deal in the 3rd set, winning 25-13, to take the match in three straight sets over West Central Valley.
Van Meter with the win will move to 3-3 on the season. Their other 2 wins came against Columbus Catholic and Roland-Story. They will take on the Winterset Huskies in their next matchup at home. For West Central Valley, it was a disappointing first start to their season as they start off 0-1. They will participate in the Clarinda tournament this upcoming Saturday, September 2nd, at Clarinda High School, where they will look to bounce back after this loss.
