The Perry Jayettes fell to the Roland-Story Norsemen in three straight sets on Tuesday night, losing 3-0 in their 2023 season opener. Perry fell 25-8 in the first set. They made it closer in the second set but Roland-Story was still able to pull away winning 25-14. The Norsemen then closed the match out in the third set, winning it 25-4. Senior Maci Tunick led the Jayettes with 3 kills total throughout the course of the night. Junior Miley Sanchez had 2 kills for Perry but that also went along with 8 errors on the night, which certainly didn’t help the Jayettes. Junior Sayra Arceo and Senior Zoey Vail also had two kills each for Perry as well. Roland-Story was just too strong however as they had their way with the Jayettes all night.

For the Norsemen, the win moves them to 6-2 early on in the season. They have already played 8 games. Their next match won’t be until September 7th when they head to West Marshall. For Perry, it wasn’t the start to the season they hoped for. They will look to regroup quickly as they are set to compete in the SCC Early Bird tournament on this upcoming Saturday, September 2nd at South Central Calhoun Middle School.
