The Dallas County Board of Supervisors met on Tuesday.
The Board started the meeting with the groundbreaking ceremony of the new administration building. County Department Heads, leaders from cities and members of the public gathered on Court Street to listen to Farnsworth Group and Turner Construction Representatives along with Dallas County Supervisors Mark Hanson, Brad Golightly and Kim Chapman speak about the project. The Dallas County Administration will be a 54,000 square foot building that is scheduled to be completed in the fall of 2024 for the price tag of $25 million dollars using American Rescue Plan Act and County Capital Reserve Funds. The Building will house the office of the Assessor, Board of Supervisors, Planning and Development, Treasure, Human Resources, among others.
The Board approved the abatement of real estate taxes for the amount of $2,895 for the property on 1110 2nd Street in Perry, and they approved the Mid American Energy Electric Line Easement for North 4th Street in Dallas County, and the Iowa Prayer Caucus Network Courthouse Lawn event from September 5th through the 9th. They tabled the property tax suspension of Kris Prosser of DeSoto for no documentation and they did not take action of the admin building contingency usage for informational purposes.
