The Iowa Attorney General recently filed a lawsuit against a governmental agency and one federal lawmaker is weighing-in.

US Senator Chuck Grassley supports the lawsuit by Iowa Attorney General Brenna Bird against the Environmental Protection Agency for not complying with Governor Kim Reynolds’ request to sell E-15 year round. Grassley believes the law is clear that governors can request to sell E-15 all year.

“I talked to Brenna (Bird) about it, she thinks they have a strong case and I don’t (know) whether they even have to file a case. But maybe they’re on top of it more than I am and they’re doing it as a matter of insurance.”

In the lawsuit, Bird claims the Clean Air Act requires the EPA to allow for the request within 90 days, which she believes the EPA is in violation because Reynolds made the request in April of 2022.
