For the first time since 2015 the Greene County and Carroll High varsity football teams will face each other. It’s the season opener for both teams and the action at Carroll Athletic Field starts at 7 p.m. with coverage at 6:30 p.m. on KG98 and streaming on www.raccoonvalleyradio.com.

The Class 2A Rams were 8-2 last season and the 3A Tigers were 5-4, and both return some key performers from the past. Carroll head coach Craig Rowedder coached in Jefferson with the late, legendary coach, Bill Kibby, and the Tigers’ head man told Raccoon Valley Radio he and his family really enjoyed their time in Jefferson from 2005-09. “It was fun cutting my teeth under a legendary head coach that has as many wins as I’d need three lifetimes of coaching to come close to that number. It was a fun time, especially as a young coach just starting out.”

A JVR game scheduled for 4:15 p.m. has been cancelled due to the heat. It’s one game only at 7 o’clock in Carroll.
