The Community Players of Greene County are putting on one performance this weekend of a different style of production.

Director Josh Teul says “Gather ‘Round the Radio” features four plays that were originally performed on the radio in the 1930s-50s that are done in a reader’s theater format and the audience members will be thought of as a “live studio audience.”

“You will see people just coming up to the microphone (and) reading off of a script like they would’ve in the natural radio play during that time frame. So you (the audience) will get a chance to do live laughing, any of that stuff that you would do as a live studio audience. It is something a little different. It’s a less stressful production for the cast, and crew, and for me as the director.”

Teul adds there are new people that are in the cast and have never done a performance with the Community Players of Greene County. There is one show on Saturday at 5pm at the Lakeside shelter house at Spring Lake Park. The four plays include, “Superman,” “Fibber McGee and Molly,” “The Tell-Tale Heart,” and “The Bickersons.” The cost to attend is a free-will donation and attendees are encouraged to bring their own lawn chair or blanket.
