The Perry Elementary School has recently hired a new person to fill a leadership role before the year gets started next week.
Chris Aggen is now the dean of students. Aggen has a bachelor’s degree in elementary education from Southwest Minnesota State University and a masters degree in educational leadership from the University of Sioux Falls. Aggen has spent nine years in education teaching health education in Minnesota along with teaching in Sioux Falls School District, and he was the principal in the Baltic School District in South Dakota. He talks about how thrilled he is to get started.
“It’s one of those things as you come in, you know, you learn a lot of new things, but it’s really hard to do some of those things until you actually, you know, it’s like trial by fire, trial by air. The kids get in, you can actually, you know, dig in, get to meet them a little bit. I’m super excited, you know, because that’s what we’re here for. We’re here for the kids. And, you know, these buildings don’t mean a whole lot if the kids aren’t here. So super excited.”
Aggen says his job will be increase attendance, and building a safe and learning environment for the Perry Elementary School.
