With the mainly mild summer weather, camping has been a great success in Guthrie County.
Conservation Director Brad Halterman tells Raccoon Valley Radio that the two county run campsites have been very popular this summer.
“Both Lenon Mills and Nations Bridge have had good crowds at them all summer long, and it’s always good to see the locals showing up. We have a really good local crowd of campers that camp at our parks, but we’ve also seen a lot of new faces. And Nations Bridge tends to get a little more of the travelers, so to speak, being closer to Interstate 80. So Nations Bridge tends to get a little more of the out of state crowd, kind of the folks that are just passing by.”
Halterman mentions that the campgrounds will stay fully operational into October depending on the weather, but that Labor Day Weekend is the last big weekend that the campgrounds will have.
