With Republican presidential candidates making more appearances in Iowa, the state’s top official sees that as an important aspect for Iowans.

Governor Kim Reynolds says keeping the first in the nation status for the Republican caucus in Iowa is a big deal.

“It’s a huge opportunity for Iowans, we take it very seriously. Iowans are engaged, they know the issues, (and) they ask the right questions. It’s a great opportunity for the candidates to really hone their message and to hear first hand from people that are engaged and knowledgeable on the issues.”

Reynolds adds there’s several economic benefits to having additional candidates and media outlets into the state as they make their campaign stops. Several Republican candidates are slated to speak at the Iowa State Fair.
