A Des Moines man was arrested in Greene County for an alleged incident.

According to court documents, a Greene County Sheriff’s Deputy responded to a call on Wednesday of a stolen Century Link truck from Des Moines that was believed to be in Rippey. The Century Link employees who the truck was taken from in Des Moines had contacted the Des Moines Police Department and through the company’s GPS system, the truck was located in Rippey.

The deputy found 32-year-old Nathan Pote of Des Moines sleeping in the truck. When asked about the truck, Pote told the deputy he owed someone money and saw an opportunity to get out of Des Moines and took the vehicle. Pote admitted to having a backpack with marijuana inside. The deputy was given consent to search the vehicle by the Century Link employee and confirmed finding the backpack with four baggies of a green leafy substance. Nothing was missing from the truck when the employees arrived in Rippey.

Pote was arrested and charged with a Class C Felony for first degree theft, two aggravated misdemeanors for operating a motor vehicle without owner’s consent and his second offense for possession of a controlled substance violation and a simple misdemeanor for driving while license is denied, suspended or revoked. Pote was booked into the Greene County Jail.
