This week is the first full week of football practice for high school athletes, and Dallas Center-Grimes’ senior quarterback talks about the upcoming season.
Ty Mikkelsen just helped lead the Dallas Center-Grimes baseball team as a shortstop to the state tournament, and has aspirations to do it on the football field. Mikkelsen says they have been putting in a lot of hard work during summer workouts and camp to improve on last year’s two win season.
“Camp’s gone really well. I think the guys are hustling well and I think we’re going to be a lot better than we were last year.”
In the 2022 season as the Mustang quarterback he threw for almost 2,000 yards with a 58-percent completion percentage and 18 touchdowns. Mikkelsen talks about his goals for the 2023 football season.
“Have a winning record as a team. Lead the huddle well and have a good attitude out there.”
The Mustangs will have one scrimmage against Ankeny Centennial on August 19th and then begin regular season play on the road against Gilbert on August 25th.
