With the football season right around the corner for West Central Valley and with camps under way this week at the high school, head coach Jim Lindsay talked about how his team is looking and where they stand going into this year and their Week 1 matchup coming up on August 25th against conference rival Panorama. He said the upcoming senior class will play a big role for the Wildcats this upcoming season.
“We got some solid senior leaders. Nate Gerling returns at quarterback which is huge. He is really taking a step forward. He had a really great soccer season and we’re hoping we can run that into football. We’ve also got a lot of returning lineman which is pretty good. We had a few injuries last year which didn’t help us last year, but its gonna help us this year because we got so many guys that have experience. That’s kind of where we are at in a nutshell. We are just waiting for the season to start,” said Lindsay.
The Wildcats finished their 2022 season 5-4 overall. They will start this year with their scrimmage against Madrid on Friday, August 18th at Madrid High School. That will of course be before their regular season opener against Panorama at home the week later. I will have much more coverage of their camps and practices leading up to the start of the 2023 season right here on K 107.9 and raccoonvalleyradio.com.
