The Greene County Historical Society will highlight the railroad at its next monthly program.
A retired railroad engineer, John Vilman of Boone, will be leading a presentation, “A Railroad Life” that focuses on his 40 year career with Chicago Northwestern, which later merged with Union Pacific in 1995. He will talk about his experiences with freight trains that went through Iowa, Missouri and Nebraska, which also went through Grand Junction, to the time he spent driving the Boone and Scenic Valley Railroad engine.
The free program will take place at 12:45pm on Friday at the Grand Junction Community Center. A lunch will be served by the Grand Junction Horizons Club at noon for $10. Contact one of the Greene County Historical Society community individuals below to reserve a meal by today’s deadline.
