Iowa State University Extension and Outreach is hosting a field day on a farm in Greene County.

New varieties of organic corn will be announced tomorrow at Shriver Farms in Jefferson. Plant breeders with ISU, the US Department of Agriculture, Albert Lea/Blue River and Prairie Hybrids will also discuss best practices for organic corn production, along with fertilizing and weed management. Attendees will also get to look at some of the weed control equipment that Shriver Farms uses with farm operator Scott Shriver. 

Shriver Farms has 1,800 acres of organic crops and transitioned to organic in 1998. The field day will be from 4-6pm and includes a free meal. Click the link below to register. Shriver Farms is located at 1276 270th Street in rural Jefferson.
