Now that the majority of County Fairs are over, many are looking forward to the Iowa State Fair.
Adair County Iowa State University Extension and Outreach County Youth Coordinator Caroline Savage says that with the increased number of exhibitors in the vast majority of the showing events, she’s excited to see which individuals are able to advance to the State Fair. She adds that this was her first year helping with the Adair County Fair, and tells Raccoon Valley Radio what she liked the most about this year’s fair.
“Being new, there’s a lot to learn, a lot of things that I did not know. But everywhere that I turned, I was able to ask a question, and I had many people ready to answer and lend a hand and give that support. So I think that was the best thing. Just seeing everybody come together, and it really does take a village. And having that support from everyone was great.”
While State Fair goers in the animal showing events haven’t been decided yet, those that will go on to show their work in Des Moines in the Static events have been decided. A list of those that are State Fair Bound and those considered for the State Fair can be found at this link.
