The Sierra Community Theatre hosted a Java and Juice event on Friday.

Attendees were asked to fill out a short, three question survey to gather feedback for what the future could look like for the close to 140-year-old theater. The questions were about the likelihood of purchasing a membership to the theater, purchasing alcoholic beverages if those were available, and choosing between either having new seats or a second screen. Executive Director Sarah Nicholson said the surveys are available at the theater for anyone in the public to submit. She pointed out that she and the board want to dream big and also do what’s best for the community.

Board member Mike Piepel gave the historical background of the theater that was first opened in 1884. It is considered one of the ten oldest theaters in the world and one of five single screen theaters left in the Midwest.

Nicholson also mentioned that the theater and the basement were available to rent for events, meetings, and other functions. She added the best way to communicate is through private messages on Facebook, which you can click the link below.
