A home in Greene County is a total loss after an early Thursday morning fire that re-ignited later in the day.

Greene County Sheriff and Jefferson Fire Chief Jack Williams says the Jefferson, Scranton and Grand Junction Fire Departments originally responded to the call of a residential fire at 2:31am at 1355 310th Street. Williams tells Raccoon Valley Radio when they were on scene, there were flames and smoke coming from the upstairs attic of the two story home. Williams notes there were four occupants inside the home at the time of the fire and everyone, along with two dogs, got out safely.

Fire crews were then called back to the same home in the early afternoon because the fire rekindled. Williams says after they were on scene for 4-5 hours, the home is considered to be a total loss and no one was hurt in either incident. Williams believes the cause of the fire to be electrical related.

The Greene County Sheriff’s Office and Greene County Ambulance assisted at the scene.
