The Dallas Center-Grimes softball team had a big hitter in the lineup that broke a school record.

Junior Macee Reiling hit 15 home runs in the 2023 season which was a single season record for Dallas Center-Grimes softball, and the record was previously held by Macy Wolf with 13 home runs in 2011. DCG Head Coach Steve Schlafke says that Reiling’s work in the offseason paid off this season.

It’s a tribute to her combination of things. Obviously, her strength and conditioning training is big because you have to be committed to that year round. Her resilience as far as getting swings during the off season and things like that too, and and just the practice that she does. So I mean it’s just a commitment to her sport and commitment to working on her hitting and conditioning that will contribute to that.”

Reilling finished in second place for homeruns this season in Class 4a behind Nevaeh Randall from Creston and she finished 6th in the state of Iowa. She also finished the season with a batting average of .409 and 42 runs driven in.
