There was a lot of success on the baseball diamond for Perry this past year. But no one had a bigger impact than senior standout Fausto Beato. Fausto Beato had a phenomenal senior season for the Perry Bluejays. Beato had a final batting average of .418 at the end of the season which led the Bluejays. Fausto also led the team in on base percentage at .495. In terms of hitting in general, Beato had 33 hits along with 22 singles, 9 doubles, 1 HR, and 14 RBIs.
Perry head baseball coach Michael Craig said Beato’s love for baseball started at a young age. “Fausto, it goes deeper than just baseball. It’s more than a hobby to him. The boy just loves, lives, and breaths baseball. Even when he shows up in the offseason, he just wanted to encourage everybody to get better. Most of the time it was through his appearance and his actions. Obviously he just showed up and was always challenging himself and his brothers and others to throw harder and throw better or focus on contact,” Craig said.
“He pushed himself almost to try and be perfect in the batter’s box. There were a couple times where I had to be like, “hey just take a deep breath and relax, and try to get though the slumps you have as a batter.” He was lights out for us this year and hope he has a great future after he moves on after his senior year,” said Craig.
Perry will certainly have big shoes to fill to replace Fausto as he moves on in his baseball career this upcoming season.
