The 51st Iowa Shrine All-Star Football Classic was held Saturday afternoon inside the air-conditioned UNI-Dome in Cedar Falls. Greene County graduated senior Jesse Miller was a tight end on the South squad. The North team won the game by a final score of 29-15. Shrine Bowl players play relatively the same amount of time. Miller played the first and third quarters and did not have a pass thrown his way.
Funds raised during the Iowa Shrine Bowl are distributed to the Shriner’s Children orthopedic hospitals and burn centers in the Midwest and to each Shrine Center’s Transportation fund to transport patients to and from hospitals and clinics. To date the Shrine Bowl has raised some $3,000,000 for Shriner’s Children.
Miller didn’t arrive in Cedar Falls until Thursday evening due to finishing an academic class at the U of South Dakota in Vermillion where he is already enrolled and is a member of the Coyotes football team.
