The Greene County Historical Society will have a special program that can help people connect to possible relatives from long ago.
On Sunday, the public is invited to a presentation with a self-taught independent researcher David Connon to the “Researching Your Civil War Ancestors,” program at the historical museum in Jefferson at 2pm. Connon, who is the book author of “Iowa Confederates in the Civil War” and the descendant of two Union soldiers, will offer hints and tips to search for information on Civil War soldiers.
Additionally, Jefferson resident and a Greene County Genealogical Society member Ada Ross will also share about how their group can assist anyone with researching their family history. Some of the resources the organization has can be found in their reference room at the Jefferson Public Library with census data, death and marriage documents, and county cemetery records.
Sunday’s program is free and open to the public.
