
The US Marine Corps USA Wrestling National Tournament in freestyle in the Junior Division (17-18) began Monday inside the Fargo Dome in Fargo, ND. Recent Greene County High School graduates Kale Petersen and McKinley Robbins were in action for Sebolt Wrestling Academy of Jefferson.
A victory by superiority (technical) fall ends the match when the margin is 10 or more points and both Petersen and Robbins won by 10-0 in their opening round matches, which came in the round of 64. There were 13o entries at Petersen’s bracket of 132 lbs. and 137 wrestlers in Robbons’ 145 lbs. weight class. Petersen won 10-0 in the first period over Maddox McArthur of Georgia and Robbins won 10-0 vs. Mason Butler of Tennessee. In their round of 64 matches later Monday, Petersen won another 10-0 tech fall, this time over Nick Torres of Arizona, and Robbins scored a second tech fall as well, 10-0 vs. Brady Priest of California.
Round of 32 matches get things underway this morning in Fargo.
