Dallas Center-Grimes will take on Dowling Catholic out of West Des Moines for their quarterfinal matchup of the 2023 state baseball tournament in Iowa City on Tuesday.

Dowling Catholic will enter tomorrows game with a (26-11) record and they finished fourth in the Central Metro League Standings. The Maroons are led by Mark Roering in his eighth year as the head varsity coach. They are on a six game winning streak that includes defeating Sioux City West (9-0) and Ankeny (8-0) in the Class 4A Region 7 bracket. Part of their success comes from the plate. They have a team batting average of .317 while the Maroons can also play some defense with a team ERA of 3.05 and fielding percentage of 95-percent. Show players to look out for include senior Beau Gamble who has the most at bats and hits an average of .342 with 33 RBI’s and Cole Southard who has an ERA of 3.10 in nine starts. Dowling Catholic also made in to the class 4a state title game last year, but lost to Johnston.
