The Stuart City Council met in regular session Monday night.

The Council approved liquor licenses for Johnnie’s Tavern and Stuart Fremont Theater, then held a nuisance violation hearing for a property on the 600 block of North Sherman Street. After discussion it was decided to have the code enforcement officer revisit the property, and to discuss again in the next meeting.

The Council then heard from Fire Chief Josh Renslow, who told them he had given the sealed bids for fire trucks to City Clerk Sarah Stouffer, then approved to put up a temporary barricade marking the parking area around the fire department, and have Economic Development Director Matt Funk visit with the owner of the nearby apartment complex about parking options for its residents. They then approved bids for ash tree removal, and discussed wages for the public works department, tabling a decision for a later date before hearing a grant update for work to White Pole Road from Guthrie County Engineer Josh Sebern.

The Council also set a public hearing on construction of street lighting improvements in the Wambold addition, pay estimate number one to McAninch Corporation for $606,020.42, and a change order for asbestos removal, before approving to accept a letter of intent and set a public hearing about selling land to Allen and Tawnya Neal. They then approved to renew a development agreement with Saints Center LLC, a revised TIF application, and heard an update from Nate Westre on work to the City’s website.
