Dallas Center-Grimes softball team started their postseason journey on Saturday.

The Mustangs are the number one seed in the Class 4a Substate Region 2 bracket and they defeated the Carroll Tigers in the semi-final round by a final score in five innings, 11 to 1. Dallas Center-Grimes started the game slow, but turned it around in the third inning scoring five runs and they would continue scoring four runs in the fourth and two runs in the fifth inning. The Mustangs racked up 11 hits on the day. Macee Reiling managed to collect a three hit game with a home run and two singles that drove in two runs. Reese Burke also swung the bat well as she picked up two singles and two RBI’s and additionally Lydia Zaruba tacked on a perfect performance at the plate with three hits including a double and three runs batted in.

Aubrey Johansen picked up her 18th win on the rubber and she was nearly perfect. Johansen pitched all five innings only allowing one hit and one walk. Dallas Center-Grimes will now take on the ADM Tigers in Dallas Center for the finale on Tuesday at 7pm. The winner will head to Fort Dodge to play for a state title.
