The 2023 Greene County Fair officially kicks off tomorrow with some 4-H and FFA activities.

Greene County ISU Extension 4-H and Youth Coordinator Samantha Hardaway says static exhibits will be judged tomorrow at Clover Hall and that’s where projects are determined if they qualify for the Iowa State Fair in August. This is also when each 4-H club in the county decorates their booths and Hardaway talks about this year’s theme.

“Those kids were setting up their booths with the theme ‘Spy Your Potential.’ That is the 4-H theme this year at the Greene County Fair. So I hope to see lots of mysteries and maybe spy glasses, and things like that to get those booths ready and get them excited for the public to come and see what they’ve done with that.”

The public can see those booths and static exhibits starting tomorrow at 1pm. Everything else happens tomorrow evening. There will be swine weigh-ins, along with beef pen of three, rabbit and poultry and Clover Kids poultry check-ins all starting at 5pm. The evening’s show will be the 4-H and FFA Dog Agility Show and Clover Kids Puppy Pack Show at 6pm at the gazebo.

Additionally, Raccoon Valley Radio will be broadcasting live from the fair Wednesday through Sunday, as well as announcing results and posting those to our website under the Greene County Fair tab on the right hand side of the homepage.
