Both West Central Valley baseball and softball teams will kick off their postseasons tonight. The Wildcats baseball team will travel to Van Meter to take on the Interstate 35 Roadrunners at Van Meter High School in the Class 2A-6 Quarterfinal. First pitch of that one will be at 5 PM. The Roadrunners come in with a 15-11 record and have won 3 of their last 5 matchups. The Wildcats will look to avoid the upset tonight against their conference rival. Whoever wins will advance to the semifinal round of the Class 2A-6 bracket for a chance to play in the state qualifier game.
West Central Valley softball will also be on their home diamond tonight at West Central Valley High School beginning their postseason play against the Panorama Panthers in the Class 2A-Region 3 bracket. The Panthers are coming in on a 7 game skid and will look to play spoiler to West Central Valley tonight. That game is slated for first pitch at 7 PM. The winner will advance to the semifinals in the Class 2A-Region 3 region bracket.
