The Perry Elementary School students and staff were excited to announce its first year completing the Computer Science Professional Development Program.

The Perry Elementary was awarded $220,000 from a Computer Science Grant to help them enhance their computer science classes by equipping students with essential digital skills to excel. The grant is also helping over 15 teachers earn Computer Science (CS) Endorsements, further enhancing the school commitment to delivering quality CS education and helping teachers grow professionally.

Over the last four years their computer science program has grown, and promoted a passion for technology and innovative thinking for students. In April of 2019 Perry

elementary began a plan for a transformation towards a Computer Science elementary building under the direction of Principal Ned Menke. Since then the school has been able to provide equipment, resources and valuable learning to students and provide them access to computer science education regardless of their background or ability. The current principal Ryan Marzen calls this initiative “transformative,” which aims to prepare students for a future career opportunity and foster a generation of digital leaders.
