New Opportunities Dallas County has begun to take donations for their back to school supply drive.
Outreach Coordinator Beth Morman says that they have placed a bright red box at the Dollar General in Perry that will collect donations of school supplies to be given to students in need. Morman explains that number two pencils and folders are the biggest needs when it comes to school supplies.
“We recommend the solid color folders because the kids need red and yellow, green, blue, purple folders. So we encourage solid color folders. Also solid colored single subject notebooks are very popular with children. So those are another big thing we always need of course, scissors and markers and crayons, colored pencils, black and blue ink pens.”
Morman says this school supply drive is only for students in the Perry Community School District. The school supply drive will continue until July 31st. She notes they accept monetary donations at their office in Perry.
