Both West Central Valley squads will be back in action on Wednesday as they both begin postseason play. Softball will face Panorama in the first round at home with a first pitch at 7 PM in their start to postseason play in the Class 2A Region 3 Bracket. Baseball will kick things off at 5 PM on Wednesday as well at Van Meter High School against Interstate 35 in the Class 2A-6 Quarterfinal.

The West Central Valley softball team was last in action on Thursday night where they lost game 1 of their double header with the Earlham Cardinals, 12-3. Earlham got off to a hot start with their bats putting up 8 runs in the first two innings to snag an 8-2 lead. This was after West Central Valley scored 2 to open the game, taking a 2-0 lead. The Cardinals had 15 hits on the night as the bats really got going, well on their way to the 12-3 victory.

Game 2 of the double header was also a victory for the Earlham Cardinals, but this time by a narrower margin, as they pulled off the win 6-4. The Wildcats once again got off to an early 2-0 lead but Earlham scored 6 straight in their first 4 innings at bat giving them a 6-3 lead through 4 innings of play. West Central Valley tried to make a late rally in the top half of the 6th as they were able to get a run across, but it wasn’t enough as the Wildcats would drop two straight in the double header to the Cardinals.

The Wildcats baseball team were last on action on Thursday as well where they went ahead 5-0 early in their game against the Earlham Cardinals, and never looked back, winning 11-4.  The win gives them a lot of momentum going into their matchup on Wednesday against the Interstate 35 Roadrunners.
