The AC/GC Chargers softball team hosted the Southwest Valley Timberwolves in Class 2A Region 3 action last night, and came away with a big win. With junior Emerson Van Meter on the mound, the Chargers kept the Timberwolves from scoring, picking up 5 runs in the first, 1 run in each of the second and third innings, and 5 more in the fourth to finish the game early with the 12-0 win. The winning run of the game came in the form of a 2 RBI home run by Van Meter, with the ball sailing over the fence in the left-center gap. The Chargers had 7 singles, 2 doubles, a double reached on error by Mersadez Richter, a triple by Carly Fagan and the home run by Van Meter.
The baseball team is in action tonight as they travel to Lenox to go up against the Tigers, and the softball team will return to action July 5th as they head to Van Meter to go up against the Bulldogs.
