The West Central Valley softball team lost game 1 of their double header with the Earlham Cardinals on Thursday night, 12-3. Earlham got off to a hot start with their bats putting up 8 runs in the first two innings to snag an 8-2 lead. This was after West Central Valley scored 2 to open the game, taking a 2-0 lead. The Cardinals had 15 hits on the night as the bats really got going, well on their way to the 12-3 victory. Junior Rowen Frisk had a big night for Earlham as she had 3 hits and 1 RBI on the night. Katie Janssen also had a big night for the Cardinals as she had 6 RBIs on the night. The majority of them came on 2 HR’s that helped springboard Earlham to the win.

Game 2 of the double header was also a victory for the Earlham Cardinals, but this time by a narrower margin, as they pulled off the win 6-4. The Wildcats once again got off to an early 2-0 lead but Earlham scored 6 straight in their first 4 innings at bat giving them a 6-3 lead through 4 innings of play. West Central Valley tried to make a late rally in the top half of the 6th as they were able to get a run across, but it wasn’t enough as the Wildcats would drop two straight in the double header to the Cardinals. Reagan Ridout on the mound had 7 strikeouts in 7 innings pitched for Earlham as well. The two wins move Earlham to 30-7 overall on the season while West Central Valley drops to 19-11 with both losses. The Wildcats will have a break for the Fourth of July holiday and begin tournament play against the Panorama Panthers on Wednesday, July 5th.

The Wildcats baseball team went ahead 5-0 early in their game Thursday night against the Earlham Cardinals as well, and never looked back, winning 11-4. They will also start tournament play on July 5th against Interstate 35.
