A four vehicle crash Monday evening in Greene County results in multiple injuries.

According to the Iowa State Patrol, at 5:34pm three of the four vehicles were stopped on Highway 30 near Forrest Avenue due to road construction. A 2003 Toyota Prius that was driven by 30-year-old Amy Yager of Coon Rapids rear-ended a 2019 Chevrolet Equinox that was driven by 88-year-old Donald Haberl of Carroll, which started a chain reaction as two more vehicles were struck from behind in succession. The state patrol reported that Donald and his passenger, 84-year-old Mary Haberl were taken by air ambulance with life-threatening injuries and that Mary later died.

The state patrol also listed Yager, as well as a 17-year-old from Jefferson who was driving a 2007 Ford Focus as the others that were injured. The only person not injured was 63-year-old Becky Wolf of Scranton who was driving a 2018 Ford Explorer.

The incident remains under investigation with the Iowa State Patrol. The Greene County Sheriff’s Office, the Jefferson and Scranton Fire Departments, Greene County Ambulance and Grand Junction Rescue assisted at the scene. Raccoon Valley Radio will bring you more information as it becomes official.
