As the summer season continues, the City of Jefferson provides lots of areas for outdoor activities.

Jefferson Parks and Recreation Director Denny Hammen tells Raccoon Valley Radio they have canoe rentals. He points out they have a limited number of canoes and the daily rental rate is $20.

“We’ll also supply the (canoe) trailer for you, which happens occasionally where families will get together and they’ll want to have multiple canoes. And so they can just hook on to the trailer and use that to get the canoes to the (Raccoon) river.”

Hammen notes that any of the shelter houses at the city parks are also available to rent for $10 per day. He says all six parks have lots of room for kids to do various activities and each include an area for grilling and they also have picnic tables.
