A reminder that the last day to turn in “Perry-Opoly,” game cards will be on Friday.
The Perry Chamber of Commerce has put together a board game similar to “Monopoly,” to encourage residents to shop local and grow the brand of the City of Perry.
Chamber Director Lynsi Pasutti says that there are three ways people can win, including taking a picture at a chamber-sponsored event be entered into a “chance” drawing to win a gift card to a local establishment. Additionally, anyone that volunteers or donates and grabs a community chest card will be entered into a drawing to win Perry Bucks. Finally, people could win by shopping at different local businesses and collecting the property cards on the board game card. Pasutti mentions this contest has gotten people invested into shopping locally, while also promoting their events and giving back.
“It is a brand new concept for people with the monopoly style game. Three different ways to play. So a lot of the first week or two was educating and promoting it, getting the word out there, answering a lot of questions and kind of nudging people along to participate. But it’s just a fun way to highlight local businesses, give back to the community, thank those for volunteering and donating, and then just have fun with the different events that we have going on.”
Those collecting property and community chest cards will need to turn them into the Perry Chamber on Friday during their business hours.
