A new event is happening at the beginning of July in Jefferson.
Tower View Team is hosting Porch Fest where musicians will perform on four different porches in Jefferson on Sunday, July 2nd. Chair Deb McGinn says the first musician is her singer/songwriter/composer son Martin McGinn, who was among the first inductees to the new Greene County High School Fine Arts Hall of Fame, along with winning Best Song by Oakland Solo Artist Award at the Oaktown Music Festival. Then there is guitarist Heath Pattschull from Des Moines, who is a two time Iowa Rock N Roll Hall of Fame inductee, one time with the Blue Band and as a soloist. McGinn describes the other musicians.
“Then we’ll have Pullin’ Strings and this is going to be a new group, with an old guy. David Williamson, he’s another Iowa Rock N Roll inductee, but he’s going to be playing guitar, along with his friend Pat Body from Des Moines and she’s a harpist, that’ll be fun. And then the last porch will have Tom Spielbaurer, and he’s from Iowa City, and he’s an award-winning Delta Blues-style guitarist. And Tom happens to be a blind performer. He was the winner of the 2022 Iowa Blues Challenge.”
The event begins at 1:30pm, with the final performance at 5:30pm at the Thomas Jefferson Gardens of Greene County with Nola Jazz. Attendees are encouraged to bring a lawn chair or a blanket and an adult beverage or there will be wine tasting along the way. The entire event is free. See the schedule below of when and where the musicians will perform.
