The AC/GC Chargers were in action Friday night, as the softball team traveled to Woodward to face off against the Woodward-Granger Hawks. The game started in the Chargers favor, as they were up 1-0 after the first inning, with Mersadez Richter scoring the run after Jayla Hoover was walked with loaded bases. The team was held scoreless in the top of the second inning, and allowed 4 runs in the bottom of the inning. AC/GC trailed 4-1 until the fifth inning, and Jenna Rowley picked up her first run and the team’s second. Both teams went scoreless in the sixth inning, but the Chargers picked up 3 runs in the top of the seventh, with two RBI’s coming off a single base hit by junior pitcher Emerson Van Meter, and the team was up 5-4 going into the bottom of the inning. The Hawks had two outs on the board, and it looked like the Chargers would come away with it, but an errant throw from 1st to the catcher allowed the 2 runs the Hawks needed, and the Chargers fell 6-5. The Chargers return to action Monday night, as they take on the Panorama Panthers on the road.
