With the warm weather and longer days moving in, people may be wondering how they can spend their time outdoors comfortably.
Guthrie County Conservation Director Brad Halterman says that there are many opportunities for those wishing to explore. He mentions that there are several fishing spots along river accesses on the South and Middle Raccoon Rivers, with plenty of fish to catch as well, explaining that below the Lennon Mills dam, smallmouth bass are plentiful.
Halterman adds that for those that are more fond of walking or hiking, the Raccoon River Valley Trail is the place to go. Until the end of this year, those that are wanting to travel the trail will need to purchase a pass, with a day pass costing $2 and an annual pass costing $10. After this calendar year, the trail will be free to access.
