midwest-missions

A reminder that today is the grand opening for a non-profit organization in Jefferson that recently expanded into a larger space.

Midwest Missions is a Springfield, Illinois-based organization that has had a presence in Jefferson since 2019 that helps collect and distribute needed items and supplies for individuals and families with disaster relief, health, education and micro business. Iowa Coordinator Danille Curtis says they were originally located in the basement of the First United Methodist Church in Jefferson, but needed more space for their volunteers.

The new location is at 219 North Chestnut Street, the former Aureon building, that is across from Jefferson City Hall.

The grand opening is from 10am-2pm today with a ribbon cutting at 10am. The public is invited to tour the new facility and also help pack rice meal kits along with making sleeping mats that are made from recycled plastic grocery bags on a loom.
