The City of Perry has been working on and also completed some major projects so far this year.

City Administrator Sven Peterson reviews  four major projects He explains that the City was excited to complete the 1st Street Cured in Place Pipe Lining Project three days ahead of schedule. He tells Raccoon Valley Radio that this project is expected to stabilize sewer lines for many years.

“It was a great investment in probably another 20 to 30 years lifespan out of that main line that serves basically all of downtown so it’s great to have that reinforced and back up to snuff.”

Peterson says that their contractor has completed the Bateman Street Repaving Improvement Project and now they have turned their attention to repaving 3rd Street, 4th Street and Rawson Street.

“So their target date is to have everything substantially completed by July 1st. So they are hard at it and working to get that project done.”

Peterson adds that the Wastewater Treatment Facility Project is six months behind schedule as they are still waiting on electrical components and they hope to get that facility up and running before the end of the year. He also notes they are starting to move dirt for the Perry Airport runway extension project.
