The Adel City Council met on Tuesday.
The Council approved three appointees to the Parks and Recreation Board that includes incumbents Jeremy Brancheau and Patricia Ehrenfried along with newcomer Robin Todd. They also approved Jonathan Fokken to the Planning and Zoning Commission, Liesl Chaplin to fill the City’s Library Board vacancy, Karen Daniel to the Board of Adjustment and the City did not receive any applications for the opening in the Historical Preservation Commission.
The Council approved updating the City’s fee schedule effective July 1st. The proposed schedule would reflect the utility rates that were changed from previous ordinance approvals. The proposal also eliminates pet and bike license fees, and adding fees for the mobile food unit permits as well as handicap parking tickets.
They also approved the treasurer’s report, a contract with McClure Engineering for Bailey’s Grove Channel Stabilization Study to complete a topographic survey addressing an unstable drainage channel and the travel policy, along with amending reimbursement expenditures.
The Board tabled rezoning lots 45 and 46 in the Eagle Vista Plat 3 along Highway 6 due to the legal description accuracy needing to be corrected and they tabled the repealing and replacing an ordinance pertaining to liquor licenses for further evaluation.
In old business, they approved the second reading of the amended sewer rates which would increase the City’s sanitary sewer rates by five-percent.
